New Designs

It's been a while since I've posted.  I've been so busy with my daytime job as an interior designer and filling handbag orders in my free time that I haven't had a chance to work on my blog.  I have a couple of new bags to add to my repertoire.  The editor of Inside Weddings has asked for bags with lots of detail and no "bling" for the Summer issue, so I've been trying to come up with some quick new ideas.   This is one of the new ones:

The bag is perfect for brides who will be wearing a dress with not a lot of detail and is available in white and ivory, as shown. The champagne-colored pearl handle makes the bag. I can also make the bag in any number of colors for bridesmaids.

This bag is a new addition to my popular line of minaudieres (pronounced min-AUD-e-a). What is a minaudiere, you ask? It's a tiny hardcase bag that is designed to be held in the palm of your hand. It holds only the absolute essentials--lipstick, credit cards, money. If you watch the Red Carpet, you will often see the stars carrying them. Judith Leiber is known for her beautiful, unique and very expensive minaudieres encrusted with Swarovski crystals, often priced in the thousands of dollars. Mine, however, are a bit more practically priced and in my opinion, gorgeous.

For those looking for a simple clutch, this one is really beautiful and can hold quite a bit of the essentials.

Custom Designed Bags for Friend's Wedding

   

I made these bags for my friend Christin's wedding this past summer.  They came out so pretty and looked just beautiful with her gown and her bridesmaid ensembles.

I was so thrilled to be able to make bags for Christin's wedding, since I was the one who set her up with our friend, Chip, about 3 years ago.  How many times do you play matchmaker and the results end up like this?  Certainly not many.  I met Christin when we were homeroom moms for our sons, Bennett & Jordan, in Kindergarten.  She had been divorced for a few years and our friend Chip, who has been friends with my husband Bill for over 30 years, was also divorced with two young girls.  I thought it would be fun to introduce the two of them.  My husband, Bill, swears he was responsible, so I'll just let him believe that.  Isn't it funny how when something works out, everyone wants to be the one who was responsible?

Unfortunately, the pictures I had taken of Christin & her bridesmaids with their handbags were lost due to a computer crash.  But you can imagine how beautifully the bags went with Christin's gorgeous gown.

 

The bag above is Christin's wedding bag.  The two below are a few more of the bridesmaids bags.  We did a different bag for each girl.  The other bag is the cream and black one above.

My Bag in "Inside Weddings" Magazine

I am so excited that my Miranda - Venetian White bag is currently featured in the current issue of Inside Weddings magazine,  Winter 2008.  It's on page 70 of the magazine and is right in the middle of the page.  Flanking my bag are other fab (and expensive!) bags by Badgley Mischka and Judith Leiber!  Of course, my bag is the least expensive of all at $92, but in my opinion is the most interesting.  I feel so honored.

Welcome to my First-Ever Blog

Hello and welcome to my first blog here in cyberspace.  For some reason this has taken me forever to figure out this blogging stuff.  My sister got me into doing this sooner rather than later and the funny thing is, I'm the more technical one in the family.

Anyway, I'm starting this journey into blogging to share my rise to the top of the handbag design world.  Once you get to know me, however, you'll come to realize that I tend to jump from one thing to another along the way.  "You need a focus" my husband always says.  I view it as every step I take along the way is one step closer to my goal, even if I do jump off the beaten path from time to time.
